Background
The veteran blockchain developer — Daniel Larimer, after creating a series of blockchain projects, is creating a new decentralized social network system — Clarion.
“Clarion aims to give everyone in the world the tools to broadcast their message to everyone who wants to hear their message without creating dependencies on centralized infrastructure. It will achieve this with a censorship resistant “friend to friend” network which will leverage the unused resources of your friends and family to distribute your content.
The ultimate goal is to provide the performance and reliability of a “centralized service” with the freedom and independence of a logically decentralized network. With the help of the Clarion community we can free our friends and family from the tyranny of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, Apple and Google and produce a social network free from manipulation and 3rd party dependence.”
Sounds great, right?
Unlike Daniel’s previous projects like EOS, STEEMIT, BitShares, which has raised billions in ICOs, Daniel decides not to include a coin or token in Clarion system.
Is it a good or bad thing? Well, in our opinion, it has two sides. On the one hand, it saves investors millions if not billions in money. On the other hand, it may lack incentives for people to run the nodes after it launches, which may result in failure of massive adoption of the system.

The Vision Of BMC Network
BMC Network will be a decentralized solution for those centralized platform like Whatsapp, Messenger, Wechat, Telegram, Twitter, and Facebook, which has a total of 4 billion users and 1 trillion market cap.
It’s permissonless to join and use. You will have full ownership and control of your account. There won’t be any centralized authorities that can take your account down in BMC network. Although BMC Network may be not as fast as centralized network and have less functions than centralized platform, it will be a must-have backup for centralized service.

Permissioned vs Permissionless, Free vs Pay-Per-Use
In some current decentralized social network like Voice, it’s not permissionless to join. You need to pass a specific authentication system to ensure you are human and that process will expose a lot of your personal info. But on BMC Network, we make it permissionless to join. You just need to have a wallet address to be your account. You just need to share your address to your friends so you can start P2P messaging to each other. It will not cost you BMC to use basic P2P messaging.
For microblogging, you can post a blog at very little cost in BMC and you can choose to make it public (everyone can view it) or private (encrypted and only friends/followers permitted by you can view the content).
For broadcasting, in order to limit spamming, a relatively high cost in BMC will be charged to perform a broadcast.
Governance vs Anarchism, Egoism vs Altruism
According to the chaos happened to many projects before like Tezos, EOS, Sushi and etc., we decide to go Anarchism instead to avoid the unpredictable mess in the future. We cannot satisfy everyone’s requirements and the arguments can be endless.
At the very beginning, we plan to build the project just for ourselves and our friends because we have been fed up with bullshxt from those centralized platform. Then those egoism may lead to altruism as others can also benefit from BMC Network too once it’s running.

Permanent vs Ephemeral
Should a post be permanent or Ephemeral? Well, it’s completely up to you. By default on BMC network, a post is ephemeral so that BMC nodes don’t need to store too much data.
But if you want to make your post exist permanently on the network, it’s also possible. There are 2 solutions for permanent post: 1. your post metadata will be stored in permanent decentralized storage system like IPFS or 2. your post metadata will be stored within BMC network at extra cost of BMC.
BMC coin and its roles/functions on BMC network.
BMC will have some of the following functions on the Broadcast Message Network:
1. Incentives for BMC Network node-runners.
2. Payment to perform some special functions on the network. For example performing a broadcasting on the whole network to reach millions of audience.
3. To pay/tip/subscribe bloggers’ exclusive/private contents.
4. To purchase special limited avatars, collectable items and other digital assets.

How join BMC Initial Stake Offering ™️?
Unlike in a traditional Initial Coin Offering(ICO), basically you need to give away your money in exchange of tokens, in ISO you can get the tokens by just staking your tokens in the ISO contract. After claim your BMC tokens rewards, you can withdraw all your staked tokens.
As Ethereum transaction fee is quite expensive recently and many user has fled to other blockchain with cheaper transaction cost, we decide to run the ISO parrallelly on both Ethereum & Binance Smart Chain. 50% BMC will be distributed on Ethereum and 50% on Binance Smart Chain.

By staking tokens in those pools, you can farm BMC during ISO.
On Ethereum, 1600 BMC tokens per block will be minted to ISO participants. On Binance Smart Chain, as its block time is about 4 times as fast as Ethereum, to make both chains mint BMC at about same speed, so 1/4×1600 = 400 BMC will be created per block on Binance Smart Chain. These tokens will be distributed to stakers of each of the supported pools.
🕑Stage 1: Pool 1 will be open. You can stake tokens in the pools before ISO starts. So when ISO starts, you can start to farm BMC immediately.
🕑Stage 2: Pool 2 & 3 will open . You can add liquidity to the trading pairs and stake your LP tokens. You can also just stake BMC tokens in Pool 5.
ISO will last for 250,000 blocks (~5 weeks) on Ethereum and 1,000,000 blocks (~5 weeks) on Binance Smart Chain.
To ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of the project, an extra 0.25 BMC of every 1 BMC distributed to ISO participators is set aside to the Dev fund.
Token Distribution
On both chain together, a total of 1 Billion BMC will be distributed during ISO (50% on Ethereum and 50% on Binance Smart Chain). That’s 50% of the 2 Billion total supply of BMC. The rest 50% will be created after the BMC network launches. The reason why we chose to make the total supply to be a relatively large number is because we want BMC to be reasonably affordable so that more people can come to use the decentralized BMC network.
